When the Coronavirus Pandemic restrictions and lockdown came into force in Scotland, performing gigs in public became impossible as all pubs, bars, restaurants, music venues, festivals and events had to close or cancel.
Being left with absolutely no work and no gigs was a real shock to the system but I decided to move quickly to find a solution. On the 21st of March, 2020, ‘The Lockdown Gigs’ were born!
The Lockdown Gigs are my page on Facebook where I now perform, live from my living room in Inverness! The gigs currently run three night’s a week, Tuesday at 7.30pm, Thursday at 9pm and Saturday at 7.30pm (all times BST). The gigs are free to view for everyone. We have built up a wonderful community during these gigs with viewers from throughout the UK and Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand and far flung places such as Brazil, Peru, Patagonia, Oman, Qatar, the Philippines, Papa New Guinea, Nigeria and Tanzania!
The Lockdown Gigs are here to stay as realistically it will be some time before anything close to normality returns in the live music industry. Even as general lockdown restrictions begin to lift, the option to perform or attend live gigs will not be quick in becoming reality, so ‘The Lockdown Gigs’ will continue!
To join me and watch my live online gigs simply visit the Lockdown Gigs page on Facebook. Please also like and follow the page 🙂
